Why we rank big news organizations alongside small blogs
I joined FOX 5’s “On the Hill” show in Washington DC over the weekend to talk about what we do at Ad Fontes Media. Namely, why we rank the diversity of news and news-like sources the way we do.
FOX 5 Anchor Tom Fitzgerald asked me a great question: why do we rank established legitimate news organizations like the AP alongside small left- and right-wing blogs and other sources of news and information? Well, the answer is we rank them together because that’s the reality of the way news consumers experience today’s media environment.
It’s a relatively recent phenomenon that we have tens of thousands of news and news-like outlets. People are coming across so much content they need help discerning it for themselves and so do brands. That’s why our nearly 70 news analysts rank everything from podcasts to YouTube channels to blogs, in addition to traditional news, because that’s the way people are getting their information.
