Our third Navigating the News with Vanessa session for paid subscribers will be on Thursday, April 9, at 5 p.m. MT. These Navigating the News talks are all about dissecting how reliable and biased a recent piece of news content is. I’ll typically dive deep into one article or video to analyze it and discuss related takeaways.
This session we’ll be looking at how misleading headlines from large publications have a negative impact on the information ecosystem. Specifically, I’ll look at an article about Charlie Kirk from Daily Mail. The article led many readers astray, and I’ll talk about how to develop good habits for spotting problematic information. After I look at this example, all participants will be invited to participate in a live, interactive Q&A session. I’ll answer questions about the Daily Mail article or about the media in general.
The “Navigating the News” series is for our paid members, which are our News Nerds and News Newbies, and our Campus Pro and Classroom Premium subscribers, so if you are not one yet, and you’d like to join, please sign up at our website.
We’ve had some great discussions at these sessions, and we look forward to continuing them each month. We might also offer additional “pop-up” talks whenever something comes up that we’d like to talk about. All sessions will be recorded for paid subscribers to access later.
