I’m excited to announce the launch of Ad Fontes Media’s AI-powered models for automatically scoring news articles for bias and reliability. We now provide human-plus-AI article ratings on the most recently published news every day!
This technology is built on the work of our analyst team over the past four years. Teams of three analysts — one left, one right, and one center, politically — have rated 70,000 pieces of news content. We’ve used these manually scored articles to create our overall news source ratings that appear on the various versions of the Media Bias Chart.
Now, we’ve used this data set to train our proprietary AI model in order to cover the vast amount of news content published every day. We now offer a blend of human plus AI ratings on the reliability and bias of news and news-like content. We believe this blended approach is the best way to cover the content landscape because AI alone isn’t accurate enough, and humans alone aren’t scalable enough.
I explain more about our AI technology in this short video.
This technology enables us to more swiftly and accurately rate media content in a landscape where information is generated at an unprecedented speed and scale, providing brands, advertisers and media stakeholders with the real-time insights to make informed decisions around their investments in news advertising.
Brands, agencies, and ad tech companies can use our article ratings to sponsor reliable journalism while avoiding opinionated, misleading, and highly biased content. Publishers can use them to showcase the quality of their own content to advertisers and audiences. Social media companies can use them to provide users more information about the articles they surface in feeds.
