Our mission at Ad Fontes Media is to rate all the news to positively transform society, and I believe that in order to positively and permanently transform society we have to start with our students. We firmly believe that news literacy is an essential skill in today’s hyper-polarized media landscape, and it’s vital to teach critical thinking in the next generation.

Teaching students how to evaluate the information they see, hear and read every day is essential in making them wise news consumers. That’s become even more difficult today, in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). Our analysts have learned a new set of skills to detect AI-generated content.

I’m excited to share what we’ve learned in our upcoming free news literacy webinars for educators. During these webinars, I’ll explain how we rate the news for bias and reliability and how you can teach your students to do the same. I’ll also share some tips for detecting AI-generated content.

Please join me for our free, three-part webinar series, “Teaching News Literacy in the Era of Hyper-Polarized Media and AI,” at 7 p.m. EST on July 28, July 30 and Aug. 4. The core objective of this annual series is to equip middle school, high school and college educators with media literacy tools that they can seamlessly integrate into their existing curriculum.

Our resources provide educators with guidance on how to use the Media Bias Chart® effectively in the classroom, facilitating discussion, engaging through interesting activities, and completing critical-thinking exercises. We provide detailed criteria for evaluating the bias and reliability of news sources.

This webinar series can be used for continuing education credit. A recording will be available for those who register but are unable to attend live. The webinars are free, but registration is required.

I encourage all teachers and librarians to join me in helping the next generation to become savvy news consumers. Register today!
