The Ad Fontes Media analyst team has found that local TV news is generally high in reliability and low on bias. But what about national TV news networks? Our monthly Media Bias Chart® focusing on TV/video news sources includes a variety of both local and national sources, and new rated programs are added each month. The April chart includes the debuts of programs from MSNBC, Fox News, Newsmax, PBS and RT (formerly Russia Today).
Our analysts have now fully rated more than 580 TV/video sources (that’s over 3,100 human-rated episodes!), and only 64 of them are featured on April’s Static Media Bias Chart®. (A list of these 64 sources is available on our website.)
Accommodating all 580 sources on a single static chart is impossible, given the substantial volume. But if you want to check our ratings on more TV/video sources, you can by using the Interactive Media Bias Chart on our website as well as on our free Media Bias Chart app, available for iPhone and Android.
Eight programs make their debut on the April TV/video chart:
- EWTN: EWTN News In Depth
- Fox News: Fox News Saturday Night w/ Jimmy Failla
- MSNBC: The Weekend
- NBC 2 Orlando WESH: WESH 2 News at 6pm
- NBC News NOW: NBC News Daily With Morgan Radford and Vicky Nguyen
- Newsmax: Wendy Bell Common Sense
- PBS: Amanpour and Company
- RT: RT News
Haven’t heard of some of these programs? We encourage you to explore them and share your thoughts. It’s a good exercise to visit sources you wouldn’t normally watch to see how they’re reporting on the day’s news. Varying your media diet is a great way to sharpen your critical thinking skills and become a more savvy news consumer.
Altogether our team has rated more than 3,800 sources from multiple platforms (web/print, TV/video and podcast/audio), with commercial data on over 10,000 sources.
