I use the Media Bias Chart all the time in one of the first units of my course "How to Read the News." Students are responsible for following one particular policy issue throughout the year and the Media Bias Chart helps students to ensure they are reading about their issue from multiple perspectives. Invaluable tool!
When teaching students about media bias, their own confirmation bias, and other forms of bias this chart is super useful in showing in a clearly visual ways the manners in which bias can appear. It's also useful for teaching students how to read news articles since the map points on the graph direct to the specific articles for easy understanding and demonstration.

I have used the media bias charts to inform educators regarding media sources and their level of bias. Like many others, educators sometimes have difficulty determining the level of credibility of media resources. This has generated a variety of discussions among educators which have also led them to discuss this with their students.
I found the chart extremely useful for my 12th grade Economics and Civics classes. It was a great tool to help them understand the concept of media bias and where the different media sources fell on the chart.
I have my Civics students track their news consumption for a week and have them reflect on it -- too much commentary, not enough straight reporting? Too far left or too far right? Then I have them plan out a news diet that will be well-balanced for the future!
The chart is a wonderful visual to show students how new sources compare on bias and reliability. I use it in classes to help students understand how to use our resources and encourage critical thinking.
I used the chart in my social work macro class. We discussed where clients might be obtaining their information and how that could influence discussions and decisions. Students appreciated being able to visually see the differences without it being a personal opinion.
The Media Bias chart is a fantastic tool for my students. As they explore close reading of bias in media and examine their own info diets, having a clear visual source is very helpful. I am excited that there are now versions out for specific media as well!
